I reached a major milestone today on the aluminum roof rack for our Land Cruiser. I bolted it in place, climbed up and did a little dance.
It’s not done yet. I still need to weld all of the flat aluminum plate decking down. The UPS guy didn’t bring the welding wire I’m waiting on today. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow and I can finish this rood rack up and move on to the other little straggler items on my list of stuff to get finished up before we leave next week.
I did get to take the Cruiser for a test drive down the street today. I’ve pleased. The rack is so light it’s not even noticeable. It doesn’t make any noise that I could hear over the diesel engine. I hope that’s the case when it’s loaded with all of our stuff and the cargo box is mounted.
