Ocho Tulum: Our Next Vacation?

On our recent trip to Tulum we walked the beach quite a bit. We ended up at Ocho Tulum and decided to check it out for breakfast. The place looks brand new and we had never been there before. We were impressed.

The picture above is the restaurant which is situated right on the beach.

I was curious about Ocho Tulum because I had never heard of it before. When we got back to our room at Posada Margherita I hopped on the internet to check if Ocho Tulum had a website. It’s really hard to tell from the website if it’s the same place we just had breakfast at. It doesn’t look that great on the website. It looks like a really nice place in person.

This picture is one of the beach front rooms that we’d like to stay in at some point. They’re a bit out of our price range at $320/night.

I like the location of Ocho Tulum. They are at the southern end of the hotel district on the road to Sian Kaan. From their location you can easily walk the beach north or south for a long way. Beach walking is one of my favorite activities in Tulum.

If breakfast is any indication of what the food is like I’m sure other meals would be great there too. The service was prompt and courteous. They spoke perfect English too if that kind of thing is important to you. The rest of the menu looked promising and the booze selection was impressive too.

The restaurant looked brand new. The tile floor, the palapa roof, the silverware, everything seemed new. I took a brief gander around the grounds and it looked like they had a brand new shiny solar PC array and wind generator system. Someone is obviously putting a bunch of money into the place. Maybe they’ll get around to doing a better website soon too?
