I spoke with the customs broker today. It looks like our Land Cruiser BJ42 should clear customs tomorrow or Monday. That’s much faster than I had anticipated. There could be one delay due to the Registered Importer selected by the broker. The RI doesn’t usually handle non-conforming vehicles. There’s usually no issues with the EPA or NHTSA requirements when imported vehicles are at least 25 years old. (Older vehicles are exempt from the Federal requirements of each of these agencies.) So if all goes well our TLC (Toyota Land Cruiser) should be on a truck to Maine sometime next week. It’s a belated Christmas present to ourselves.
BTW, here’s a YouTube video of our BJ42 down in New Zealand before it was shipped to us. It’s nice to watch this every once in a while to remember what we’ve been waiting on all this time.
