I didn’t know there was a “Little Grand Canyon” in Utah. There is. And a great place to check it out is from The Wedge overlook where these photos and videos were taken.
One of the more stunning areas of the San Rafael Swell is the Little Grand Canyon. It’s centrally located in the northern Swell area and is easy to get to in a passenger car on well maintained dirt roads. I’ve never been to the real Grand Canyon (maybe someday but thankfully not on this trip) so I can’t compare this with the real thing. I can say that these photos don’t do it justice. My little digital Canon SD300 just doesn’t take good landscape shots. You’ll get the idea though.
The video quality is really good in the original source files from the camera. Unfortunately the YouTube compression removes a lot of the image quality. The wind was kicking up pretty good too. These videos were shot while out tent was most likely blowing away in our camping spot. Here they are:
