I haven’t been updating much lately. I’ve been pretty busy. But today was a day for fun. We took a 250 mile ride on the motorcycle with a couple of friends. The map above is the loop we did.
We didn’t set out this morning to take such a long trip but we were having such a nice ride that we decided to try something new instead of coming home the same way we drove up.
Our destination was the observatory on Mont Megantic in Quebec. (”C” on the map.) We crossed the border from Maine to Canada at Coburn Gore on the way up. The Frenchies at the border weren’t real friendly. We made it to the base of the mountain where the observatory is around noon. The top was obscured by clouds and it was drizzling in the area. We figured why should we pay the fee to enter the park just to get wet and not see anything? That’s when we decided to come home through New Hampshire.
Northern NH near Canada is a lot like the area in Maine where we live. It’s very picturesque. The border crossing is super small. Only one lane of traffic each way with no wait. It’s a nice day trip.
We did get to see a moose too near Rangeley, Maine.
It was a long day. My ass is sore.
In other news: the generator shed is almost done, the roll bar is done and installed (very nice too), the new garage door opener is a piece of shit and quit working, the trim on the house is getting painted, the fall colors are starting to kick in slowly, the “new” Land Cruiser is here, and we’re shopping for a condo in Portland. I’ll post more on these breaking stories soon.

HI HOW NICE
TAKE ATRIP OUT OF CLEAR SKY
LIVE IT UP
Hi, the Land Cruise guy from Florida again. Just ran across your site again in my FJ40 favorites. What a coincidence, my 6 buddies and I just got back from our annual 10 day motorcycle trip as well, made it up to York and Lancaster PA. Next year I’m heading to New England, and I’m already doing the planning. I use these MadMaps for trip guides, and the route you took is very similar to one they recommend. Gonna put the bikes on the Amtrack AutoTrain up to Virginia and start from there instead of riding out of Florida for the sake of time, sore butt, and worn out tires. I see you now have what look like to be a Troopy, good luck with that. Hope it turns cold for you soon. Take care.
