I’m not really a doofus. Well, most of the time anyway.
I’ve been a self-employed web/SQL Server developer since 1998. I figured it’s time I get with the times and finally start my own blog and see what this whole social networking (fad?) is all about.
So here it is. My first blog. What am I going to do with it? I dunno just yet. I’m going to play, rant, learn and just have fun.
Why the self-deprecating pen name? It’s not really a slight, it’s an homage of sorts to my late Great Dane named Rufus. You’ll see pictures of him from time to time. Those are his big feet at the top of the page.
The “Doofus” part of “Rufus the Doofus” was bestowed upon him by a friend’s kids while we were camping at Ocotillo Wells in the desert of Southern California. One of Rufie’s favorite things to do
was chase me while I drove my dune buggy around camp. Rufus wasn’t real smart and he’d chase me all day long if I let him. He loved those kids too and would sleep with them near the camp fire after dinner most nights.
So welcome to my big social networking experiment/learning experience.
