We’re camping in Dominguez Canyon, CO again tonight. Last night was chilly. Our water jugs had some ice in them when we woke up this morning.
This is a great destination for a comfortable camping area. There’s pit toilets for those of us that prefer not to squat in the woods and a nice flowing creek to clean up in. We were told it’s a very popular destination after Memorial Day but we’ve had the place almost to ourselves with only one other campsite in use.
This area has poor cellular service. It’s not surprising, we’re in a canyon in the middle of nowhere. It’s taken me ten minutes just to get online and check email. So no major updates today, possibly tomorrow when we go through Gateway, CO on our way to Moab, UT if the road over the mountains is open. It might still be closed due to snow.
We did some nice hiking today through the canyon along Dominguez Creek. We took plenty of pictures but the cell service is too slow to upload them today. I’ve got blisters on my heels the size of silver dollars. I won’t be hiking anymore for at least a week. The dogs stepped on some small cacti along the trail but none of the prickers stayed in their feet. They seem to like it here and are very comfortable around camp.
We took a wrong turn yesterday on the way here from Grand Junction and ended up doing a few hours of pretty serious off-road trail riding. It was good practice for what we’re going to see in Utah soon.
It’s been beautiful and sunny today, I’d guess the temps are in the high 60s. The sky is clear so it’s most likely going to be cold again tonight.
SOUNDSEXCITING WHAT DO THE DOGS THINKOF STRANGE
PLACES?
The dogs seem to adjust pretty well. They really liked the last place. The other group that was camping there had a 6 month old chocolate lab that our dogs got to play with for hours yesterday and this morning before we got on the road.
